What is the set up process for Mother Hen™?

From box to protection in under 60 minutes — no electrician, no Wi-Fi, no hassle. Just 6 bolts, 2 plugs, and a few taps.

Step-by-Step: 45–60 Minutes Total

1. Bolt the Door Plate to Your Coop — 15 minutes
   
   • Remove your old chicken door
   • Align the pre-wired Mother Hen™ door plate over the opening
   • Secure with 6 bolts (included)
   • Limit switch and motor are already installed — no wiring needed
2. Connect Power — 2 minutes
   
   • Plug in 2 USB cables (included):
     • One for the door motor
     • One for the Walter controller
   • Use any 5V source: wall adapter, solar panel, or battery pack
3. Twist on the Cellular Antenna (Walter) — 10 seconds
   
   • Screw in the included antenna — no SIM card, no setup
   • Works worldwide with built-in roaming
4. Mount Human Door Sensor(s) — 3–5 minutes per door
   
   • Attach BTS-MP1 sensor to door frame (2 screws)
   • Attach magnet to door (2 screws)
   • Add up to 4+ sensors — name them in app (“Kids’ Door”, “Feed Room”)
5. Plug in The Egg & Pair It — 60 seconds
   
   • Plug The Egg into any outlet (home, garage, neighbor’s house)
   • Download Mother Hen™ app (iOS/Android)
   • Scan QR code on bottom of Egg
   • App uses Bluetooth to send your Wi-Fi credentials
   • Egg reboots, connects to AWS — ready

   Want to give The Egg to a neighbor? Re-pair it to their Wi-Fi in 60 seconds.

6. Final Setup in App — 3 minutes
   
   • Enter your coop’s GPS coordinates (or use phone location)
   • Set alert preferences:
     • Which doors to monitor
     • Temp thresholds (e.g., <30°F or >95°F)
     • Who gets SMS (up to 16 phones)
     • Daily “all clear” on/off
   • Test: Open/close door → watch The Egg flash + get SMS

What You Need (You Probably Already Have)

• Tools: Drill, screwdriver, level
• Power: Any 5V USB source (wall plug, battery, solar)
• Phone: iOS or Android for setup
• Wi-Fi: Only for The Egg (not required for coop)
